Of budakbudu and the good ole days

Finally my rodong Budakbudu learns to blog..I've known him for ages since the day I set foot to terrace house hostel in Arau. In the second year we separated to different houses though his house was just next door to mine and one of his housemates is pakia (dato' shazali ramli of NTV7). Then, in the third year when we moved in to the new Jati hostel, Budakbudu once again became my roommate. Budakbudu is intelligent, fast learner and creative kind. With these qualities, I dont see he encounters much problems in this blogging world.
What's Budu? Well.... it's neither an aeroplane nor a food appetizer... It's a place located in Benta, Kuala Lipis Pahang. I've been there for the first time in early 80s together with several others, including the late Ben (al Fatihah). I enjoyed the short moment I spent in Budu.... Budu is a place of tranquility and of great ambience..so green so refreshing. I've been there for the second time with Veeranjoo somewhere in 1984 to attend budakbudu's sister's wedding, we travelled all the way from Paloh Hinai to Budu and I can still remember how we almost plunged into a ravine on Bentong-Raub road when Veeranjoo suddenly lost his control over the steering wheel.

Budakbudu...he made me listen to Dire Straits, Goodman Brothers, and smelled Piere Cardin's perfume (huge bottle, just like world cup trophy).. Though I'm of different taste in terms of musics etc but I can still tolerate the sound of Dire Straits and the smell of Piere Cardin or the smoke of Peter Stuyvesant. Same goes to him I bet. A dear buddy who influenced me a lot in music is another Pahangite, Mat Noor (actor Ahmad Mahmud's photocopy...), He taught me to play guitar, but I was a slow learner for that. He too introduced me to Kumpulan Harmoni, The Queen, Voodoo Orchestra, Roy&Fran etc. Mat Noor reminds me of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme..I purchased this fragrance quite a few times. It's still around in the market, quite hard to find and now become a classic.

Budakbudu, I'm not sure when I last saw him but definitely more than a decade. Same goes to the other buddies ie. Mat Nor, Hanif, Veeranjoo, Lix, Paul, Sabki, Wan Sulong, Faris, Mat Diah etc..Whom I have no slightest idea of their whereabouts..except Budakbudu in Shah Alam and Sabki who's now lecturing in UiTM Sabah. Faris I heard married an American and settled down in the States. Hanif last visited my kampong's house almost 20 years ago. I last heard of Mat Nor since 1986 when we chatted thru phone during my tenure at Teluk Intan's Land & District Office. Here again, I regret for not able attending any of my buddies weddings..but I do still remember one of the best wedding invitation cards I'd ever got was from Budakbudu...It was dark red in color with gold writings..look so royal. What a great taste he got...
Mmmm..it's fun uhh.. remembering the good ole days.

Thanks for giving me a generous space in your blog (and your heart, I suppose). Thanks again for the beautiful memories, pal. It’s so touching especially when you mentioned about my kampung. I clearly remember that you are my only friend who came twice to my house (despite all the difficulties). My kampung is rather remote but it was indeed one of my precious hideouts, but NOT anymore, for now it is so empty since both of my parents had no longer greet my homecoming. Al-Fatihah for both of them.
